Have you guys ever thought about watching the episodes in the original Production order rather than release dates? The way they released all the episodes was very weird and out of chronological order, and the season doesn't make much sense as a result. You do have to sit through more spy themed holdover episodes in a row, but the series has a definite structure to it, that is lost watching it in the order that they aired in.

You can see both the airing order and the Original Production Order on the Darkwing Wiki,
